BWRT® - BrainWorking Recursive Therapy® Edinburgh

Background to BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®

This new therapy was created in 2011 by Terence Watts, after he was inspired by the studies of Benjamin Libet, a pioneering scientist in the field of human consciousness, who was awarded the Virtual Nobel Prize for Psychology.

Research Libet carried out in 1983 demonstrated that the decision to act upon a stimulus is made by the brain almost 1/3 of a second before you actually become aware of that decision, or the subsequent action or reaction that decision generates. In simple terms, by the time you acknowledge what you're going to do, you're already doing it!

BWRT® is a science-based, totally grounded methodology that deals with uncomfortable emotional or psychological triggers at source, even the ones that happen before you are even aware of them.

What does this mean for you?

BWRT® utilises the opportunity to work in that all-important interval between the commencement of an action and your own conscious awareness. This powerful intervention engages your natural thought process and allows you to neutralise any negative or destructive thought patterns so completely, it can be as if they never existed.

How will BWRT® work for you?

BWRT® differs from many other types of therapy, not only because it can help you in as few as two or three sessions, but also in that the powerful affect can be achieved content free. This means, if you are uncomfortable or unable to talk about a particular issue or problem, then there is no need for you to do so. In a few simple, private sessions BWRT® can change the way you think about a problem and how you deal with it.

What happens in a BWRT session?

During your first session I will be able to explain to you in simple terms how BWRT® works and how it can help you. Although I need to know the situation we are working with, in most cases, there is no need for you to disclose any sensitive or intimate details that may make you feel uncomfortable. The most important thing is you know how you feel now and how you want to feel in the future.

From there you will be given the opportunity to use the power of your imagination to create a more helpful, preferred response, that works for you. The use of the recursive loop process, will allow you to repeat and strengthen your desired behavioural response.

What can BWRT® help with?

There are 3 different levels of BWRT® therapy currently available. Your first appointment may involve a simple assessment which will help to determine the most appropriate approach for you personally, although in some instances a blend of the different levels may be required to achieve maximum results.
